The fire sucker involves soaking a ball of cotton wool in almost pure alcohol. The cotton is squeezed by a pair of forceps and lit by a match or lighter and, with one movement, placed in the cup and removed quickly, while the cup is placed on the skin. The fire heats the inside of the cup and a small amount of suction is created by the air being cooled again and contracted.
